Last year, in 2022, I decided to tackle a few different ways to work with metal. The choices being: bronze, brass, copper, and sterling silver. I spent the summer learning how to acid etch designs, antique beads, and put a patina on copper. I did very little with sterling silver, as metal sheet is expensive, making mistakes costly and the final products extra expensive. I do make all my own sterling silver ear wires and headpins.
So, I chose to work with copper. Below are the newest necklaces I created, made of copper that has been patinated either blue or blue-green with acid-etched patinated side plaques. Some beads have been antiqued. Everything has been sprayed with a permanent sealer (multiple times) to maintain the colors and it’s beauty.
Also included are hair clips or sweater pins made out of copper as well with a colorful patina and fun patterns.
